Call
for Abstract Submissions
Submit your best research for presentation at the Year 2000 Joint Meeting between the Pediatric Academic Societies and American Academy of Pediatrics, which will be held in Boston, MA, Friday, May 12Tuesday, May 16. The heart of the meeting is the work submitted by the members. The Annual Meeting offers a unique opportunity for you and your colleagues to present interesting, new and innovative research and engage in collegial interchanges. The Program Committee is committed to presenting the broadest possible range of high quality work from the membership. We would like both the absolute number of abstracts presented, and the percentage accepted, to grow. To achieve these goals while preserving the quality of the meeting, we ask members sponsoring each abstract to pay close attention to the abstract content. Historically, abstracts accepted for presentation are hypothesis-driven new work. Abstracts rarely accepted for presentation include single case reports, open label drug trials, highly speculative accounts of clinical experience, and accounts of personal experience. Interim results from an ongoing clinical trial will not be accepted for presentation unless the study has been prematurely closed for efficacy, lack of efficacy, or issues of safety. The submission of multiple, similar abstracts from the same investigator(s) or laboratory are strongly discouraged. The member sponsoring each abstract is the first and most important part of the review and selection process. Please contribute to the meeting quality and do not sponsor an abstract you would not like to see on the program. Once again, we strongly encourage you to submit your abstracts electronically. Last year, 2129 abstracts were submitted and 92% were submitted electronically. The electronic submission of abstracts helps us contain costs and facilitates the dissemination and publication of the abstracts. Several improvements have been made which we hope will make the submission process as simple as possible for you. As always, we welcome your suggestions. On-Line Submission is the easiest and most preferred method for abstract submissions. The second option for electronic submission is the Download/Upload Submission Program. Submitting on Paper Forms is highly discouraged! Paper forms should only be used if you do not have access to the Internet to access the on-line or download/upload programs. |
