MARCH OF DIMES PRIZE IN DEVELOPMENTAL BIOLOGY LECTURES

The March of Dimes Prize in Developmental Biology is awarded annually to investigators who have made a seminal discovery in developmental biology, one that has revealed a new principle of relevance to birth defects. The March of Dimes created the prize as a tribute to Dr. Jonas Salk shortly before his death in 1995. The 1999 recipients are:

Martin J. Evans
Cambridge University, England

Richard L. Gardner
Oxford University, England

   

APA GEORGE ARMSTRONG AWARD

The Ambulatory Pediatric Association presents the George Armstrong Award Lecture. Those who deliver this lecture are honored as outstanding teachers and contributors to our knowledge of the care of children. The 1999 recipient is:

David Satcher
Assistant Secretary of Health and Surgeon General

   

JOSEPH W. ST. GEME, JR. LEADERSHIP AWARD

This award was established in 1988 through the Federation of Pediatric Organizations (*) to honor the life, work and memory of Joseph St. Geme, Jr. and to memorialize his many contributions and his aspirations for pediatrics. The 1999 recipient is:

James A. Stockman, III
The American Board of Pediatrics, Chapel Hill

(*)The Joseph W. St Geme Leadership Award is presented on behalf of the Federation of Pediatric Organizations, which is comprised of the following organizations:
Ambulatory Pediatric Association, American Academy of Pediatrics, American Board of Pediatrics, American Pediatric Society, Association of Medical School Pediatric Department Chairmen, Association of Pediatric Program Directors and Society for Pediatric Research.
