Meets annually in New Orleans, LA (in conjunction with regions VII and VIII of the Ambulatory Pediatric Association, District VII of the AAP Perinatal Section, the Southern Section of the American Federation for Medical Research, the Southern Society for Clinical Investigation, the Southern Society for General Internal Medicine, and the Southern Section of the American Physiological Society.)
Sponsors a Basic and a Clinical Young Investigators' Award competition each year
Has an active Trainee Travel Award program to encourage meeting attendance by students, house officers, and fellows
Sponsors a new Young Faculty Award program to honor and help support travel of selected junior faculty
Provides several workshops on important research and academic skills each year
Sponsors an annual Founder's Award and a Pediatric Educator Award to honor individuals who have made important contributions to the Society and to the education of pediatricians in the southern region.
