ROSS AWARD IN PEDIATRIC EDUCATION 

Eligibility
The recipient is a member of the Southern Society for Pediatric Research (SSPR) and/or the Ambulatory Pediatric Association (APA) who is recognized as an outstanding educator in pediatric medicine.  Criteria for selection include:

  1. Widespread recognition for the stimulation of pre- and post-doctoral students to provide excellent child health care

  2. Outstanding contributions to the development and administration of pediatric curricula or parent-child educational programs

  3. Recognized role model as pediatric educator

Nominations are solicited from the membership of the SSPR and APA.

Procedure
The sponsor for the nominee shall send a letter of approximately 500 words indicating the nominee’s accomplishments in pediatric education.  In addition, letters of support from two additional colleagues and a curriculum vitae will be required.  The letter of nomination and the two supporting letters must come from active members of the SSPR and/or APA.  Letters of nomination should be sent to:

Criteria for Evaluation
A selection committee composed of representatives from the SSPR and the APA will evaluate the nominees based on their regional and national contributions to pediatric education.
   
 

Awards
The winner of the Ross Award in Pediatric Education will receive a plaque and an honorarium of $500.
  The award is made possible by a grant from Ross Laboratories.  The award will be presented at the Plenary Session of the SSPR.
