Evaluation

Review progress/success of participants in ongoing summer research program, awards available for trainees, projects and participation of both mentors and trainees and the effect of SPR membership and the new faculty mentoring program on publication frequency, publication quality, and success in funding applications.

Mandate

To facilitate mentoring initiatives as part of the strategic plan of the SPR.

  • Expand the pipeline of trainees interested in pediatric research.

Functions & Responsibilities

  • To evaluate all programs sponsored by SPR that are related to mentoring and trainees
  • To launch a new SPR mentoring program with opportunities for interaction between mentors and faculty level trainees at the annual meeting, as well as via phone/email at designated timepoints throughout the year
  • To expand the summer research program (increased number of mentors + awardees)
  • To increase the number of awards given to trainees and mentors
  • Encourage residents to attend the annual SPR meeting and consider a program/forum at the annual meeting for students and residents.
