ESPR Annual Meeting Awards

For abstracts submitted to the ESPR Annual Meeting - (unless otherwise noted*)


ESPR Faculty Young Investigator Award

Junior Faculty (Instructor or Assistant Professor) are eligible for the Faculty Young Investigator Award. Abstracts selected by the planning committee are presented during Plenary Session II at the Annual Meeting. The winner is announced on Sunday Morning at the beginning of Plenary Session III.

Candidates must fulfill the following conditions:

  • Check the appropriate box in the ESPR abstract submission program.
  • First authorship (presenting author) on an abstract submitted to ESPR Annual Meeting
  • The awardee must present the study at the ESPR Annual Meeting
  • Abstract and supplemental materials must be received by the ESPR abstract submission deadline.

ESPR Trainee Young Investigator Award

Trainees who are first-author presenters are eligible for the Trainee Young Investigator Award. Abstracts selected by the planning committee are presented during Plenary Session II at the Annual Meeting. The winner is announced on Sunday Morning at the beginning of Plenary Session III.

Candidates must fulfill the following conditions:

  • Check the appropriate box in the ESPR abstract submission program.
  • First authorship (presenting author) on an abstract submitted to the ESPR Annual Meeting
  • The awardee must present the study at the ESPR Annual Meeting
  • Abstract and supplemental materials must be received by the ESPR abstract submission deadline.


ESPR Trainee Travel Award
Travel awards will be available for first-author presenters who are currently in training. Awards will be made based upon the scientific merits of the abstracts and the availability of sufficient funds. These awards provide hotel accommodations at double-occupancy for eligible first-authors-in-training and make it possible for those individuals to attend the meeting without undue financial burden on their respective institutions. Please note that the award pays for one half the hotel room at double occupancy.

Candidates must fulfill the following conditions:

  • Check the appropriate box in the ESPR abstract submission program.
  • First authorship (presenting author) on an abstract submitted to the Eastern SPR Annual Meeting
  • The awardee must present the study at the Eastern SPR Annual Meeting
  • Abstract and supplemental materials must be received by the ESPR abstract submission deadline.

Poster Awards and Clinical Case Competition

  • Meritorious poster awards will be selected; the top 3 posters from each session will be graded during each poster session.
  • The three finalists for the Clinical Case Competition will present their cases on Saturday.
  • Awards for the top 3 posters for each poster session and the best clinical case presentation will be announced on Sunday morning prior to the "Great Debate" session.

Mentor of the Year Award

Every year, one Mentor of the Year Award is presented to an outstanding teacher who has had a major impact on developing research skills in trainees and launching productive research careers. The Award is announced at the Annual Meeting.
